Smack in the middle of South Philly is the Bok Building, an art deco, New Deal Era vocational high school built by the Public Works Administration in 1938. The school closed in 2013 and has been repurposed into a gathering space and community hub that’s home to over 200 makers, businesses, nonprofits, and studios. Throughout the building’s nine floors you’ll find vintage shops, a risograph studio, small-batch accessories, homemade skincare, a vintage guitar shop, a hair salon, a movie theatre, a coffee shop, an insanely good bakery, a Sicilian restaurant, and a roof top bar with some of the best views of the city. And that’s just off the top of my head! There is much to discover in Bok.
